Akiva Community Day School is a Kindergarten through 6th grade school that is dedicated

The Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM) is pleased to announce the first annual Jewish Education and Technology (JET) Institute. The JET Institute is a week-long conference for Jewish day school educators held at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. JET supports Jewish day school teachers to leverage technology to create more dynamic, effective, and relevant learning environments.2013 JET Institute will take place Monday, August 5–Friday, August 9. (Friday session will be completed by midday).At the JET Institute, teachers will:· Learn from technology experts and Jewish thought leaders· Experiment with new platforms, programs, and applications· Apply technological skills and resources to curriculum-inspired projects· Workshop ideas with colleagues and technology coaches· Receive one-on-one coaching from master teachers· Experience exemplary web-based resources for teachers· Explore San Francisco’s rich cultural offeringsThe Institute will be followed by support to execute each teacher’s vision. Each school is encouraged to send two or more teachers. The CJM seeks applicants who are already versed or interested in the use of technology in their classroom and are looking to broaden their skills and expand their support.Selection process: The 2013 institute is limited to 25 participants. Priority will be given to schools that demonstrate institutional support for facilitating technology integration as well as day schools in the western US.Annual JET Award: In conjunction with the JET Institute, beginning in Spring 2014, the JET awards will be announced. Over the past several years, the CJM has launched a number of technology based projects including #SFphotohunt,peoplestorah.com, and arewethereyet.com. The CJM has also hosted several technology-based teacher workshops, including a daylong Game Design Intensive for day school educators and LINK, an 18-month initiative which brought together Jewish high school teachers to explore how new social digital technologies could strengthen and inform Jewish identity.
